Charity run/walk for fun

Charity run/walk for fun

Date: 2017-09-22

1000 participants donned their Sunflower Topes and took part in the eleventh annual Pick n Pay Hyper 5km Fun Run/Walk for Charity in support of The Sunflower Fund and loved ones who had lost their battle to leukaemia. The event took place on Sunday, 10th September from SUNCOAST Amphitheatre and went out onto the promenade and back.

The atmosphere was festive with the Dance Direction dancers, Northlands Girls High School drummers and the Prep Gumboot dancers entertaining the crowd.

Five substantial prizes ranging from pamper treatments vouchers to boat cruise and meal vouchers were handed over to the delighted lucky draw winners.

The South African National Blood Services (SANBS) collected several pints of much needed blood during the event.

R67 050 was raised which will allow The Fund to raise awareness, educate and recruit new blood stem cell donors. The more donors on the Registry the more hope of life patients diagnosed with leukaemia have of finding their 1:100 000 donor match.
