KZN Finalist all set for the Ms South Africa Nationals 2017

KZN Finalist all set for the Ms South Africa Nationals 2017

Date: 2017-08-11

Geraldine Govender who hails from the North coast of KZN will be representing her province in this year's Ms South Africa National Pageant that will be held at the Midrand Theatre in Johannesburg in November 2017.

The KZN beauty is not just another pretty face. She is employed by Transnet National Port Authority, Port of Durban as a Vessel Traffic Controller.

She acts in advisory capacity to ship's captains relating to port limit traffic movements and relaying marine pilot boarding information.

Her primary responsibilities also include positioning of vessels to anchorage and the issuance of berthing instructions.

She holds a Masters in Marine Port Operations and Skippers in Marine Port Operations qualification, Programme Management qualification and many more but currently is majoring in her Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management.

"I just want women to know that we can do so many things. Our problem is that we limit ourselves. We can be anything we want to be."

Geraldine is also involved in various orphanage charity organisations and says that she finds the perfect balance between work and her personal life.

"My aim to contribute towards empowering women of today and globalising women in South Africa."

The reason that Geraldine has chosen to participate in the Ms South Africa National pageants is as she states, "that unlike other pageants, Ms South Africa Nationals is "not about the crown". This Globally recognised pageant is purpose driven and seeks to highlight real concerns, identify areas of positive change and create a difference that not only effects change in South Africa but also reverberates around the world."
