WORLD YOUTH WILDLIFE DECLARATION HEADS TO VIETNAM
WORLD YOUTH WILDLIFE DECLARATION HEADS TO VIETNAM
This Youth Declaration, with its clear message calling for an end to rhino poaching and all forms of wildlife crime, has spent the last 12 months travelling South Africa and other countries, collecting thousands of signatures and messages from concerned citizens, ranging from rural school children to global leaders. Notable signatories include Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Dr Jane Goodall, the late Dr Ian Player, African humanitarian adventurer Kingsley Holgate, representatives from the South African Department of Environmental Affairs, private and state rhino owners and US government officials.
It now, like an Olympic Torch, will be carried by five South African Youth Rhino Ambassadors to Vietnam, to take part in Operation Game Change, a joint Vietnam/US government initiative aimed at ending wildlife crime in Vietnam, especially rhino horn trafficking.
It will be publicly presented to Vietnamese youth and government leaders on 1 November at WildFest, Vietnam's first wildlife-themed film festival, which will be also be attended by the South African, US, UK and Australian Ambassadors (amongst others) and leading Vietnamese music celebrities. May they bring success to this incredible mission.
