Eminent Philosopher To Visit South Africa

Eminent Philosopher To Visit South Africa

Date: 2014-07-18
Sunanda Leelaram, affectionately known as Sunandaji, is the daughter and protégé of internationally eminent philosopher Swami Parthasarathy. She will be visiting South Africa this August to conduct a series of lectures in Cape Town, Johannesburg & Durban.

Surrounded by sages, Sunandaji had a rare and fortunate upbringing, in an ashram (spiritual hermitage), in India. It was there that her father, Swami Parthasarathy, learnt Vedanta, the ancient philosophy of life and living. Growing up in an ashram she was accustomed to an environment of thinking, contemplation and deep enquiry.

By the time I was sixteen, my mind was full of questions, so I took them to my father, she recalls. The answer to her questions came in a galore of spiritual books and philosophical texts.

The subject captivated her. It not only answered all her questions, it catapulted her into a higher level of understanding. From that moment, Sunandaji decided to follow her father's footsteps and dedicate her life to the propagation of Vedanta. Under his guidance, Sunandaji has been researching and propagating the philosophy of Vedanta for over three decades.

Vedanta is the ancient philosophy of India, dating back several thousand years. It is a scientific system of principles that govern human life - the digest of great thinkers and philosophers over countless generations. Its timeless principles transcend culture, race and religion, making Vedanta universal in its application.

The philosophy trains one to develop the intellect, the human faculty of reason and judgment. One uses the principles of Vedanta to probe into the essence of the personality. Above all, the application of the philosophy's principles promotes true self-development, ultimately leading to enlightenment, the state of human perfection.

As an international lecturer Sunandaji addresses diverse audiences around the world. Her discourses range from explanations of the ancient philosophical texts, such as the Bhagavad Gita, to modern day topics, such as Formula for Success, Life in Balance.

Sunandaji's authority as an educator and subject matter expert stems from her years of dedicated study and research on Vedanta. This study has heightened her awareness of the state of humanity and the transformative power of this knowledge. This understanding fuels Sunandaji's commitment to help individuals and communities achieve peace and prosperity through self-development
