Learn to Live - Youth Day Seminar

Learn to Live - Youth Day Seminar

Date: 2015-09-18
Children lack the ability to handle life's challenges. Statistical data worldwide including findings by the World Health Organisation bear testimony to the truth that child suicides, obesity, addiction, peer pressure etc. are some of the ailments affecting children globally. Adults lack the ability to handle life's challenges. How then do we expect children to cope?

The lives of youngsters are full of choices. They need to choose their schools, subjects, activities, friends, and the rest. How do they ensure that they make the right choices and avoid problems and unhappiness in the future? What are the guidelines they should follow? Where does one find answers to these fundamental questions in life? Vedanta, the enternal knowledge of life and living provides solutions to all these problems. Living is an art, a skill, a technique. It has to be learnt and practised just as you would a game or a musical instrument.

Vedanta Institute SA is a non-profit organisation formed to provide education on Vedanta, a philosophy teaching life skills and fundamental values; to cultivate a strong intellect thereby establishing dynamism in action, peace of mind and clarity in thinking.

Vedanta is the ancient philosophy of India, dating back several thousand years. It is a scientific system of principles that govern human life - the digest of great thinkers and philosophers over countless generations.

The philosophy trains one to develop the intellect, the human faculty of reason and judgment. And with this capacity for independent thought, one uses the principles of Vedanta to probe into the essence of the personality.

Education worldwide has been entirely directed to acquisition of information, knowledge from schools and universities, teachers and textbooks. That provides youngsters with adequate knowledge and intelligence only to make a living. However, without training in the development of the intellect, youngsters are at the mercy of the impulsive, demanding and reckless mind, and are left stranded in a life plagued with stress and strain, trial and tribulation.

Vedanta Institute will be conducting a youth day in Durban, Saturday 03 October 2015, 8:30am to 3pm at the Giba Business Park, Ingweni Rd, Westmead. Children aged between 10 and 18 are welcome to join us. Cost per child is R200.
