It is St Luke's Fete Time Again!

It is St Luke's Fete Time Again!

Date: 2012-06-06
The big countdown has begun for the St Luke's Congregational Church Fete that will be held from 8.30am on Saturday, 9 June. The churchgrounds in Roger Place, Glenashley, will be turned into a festive morning market for the 52nd annual fund-raiser that started off as a 'bazaar' in 1960.

Over the years this fete has become a great favourite of the local community and is known for it's great old-fashioned home-made goods and crafts. It is also the place to meet friends and family to share the traditional St Luke's scones and crumpets in the Tea Garden.

For the third year running various workshops were held on Saturdays where some exquisite items, created by the talented workers, have seen the light. All these items will be on sale.

All the general stalls that have become synonymous with the St Luke's Fete, such as Fancy Goods, Preserves Pantry, Toys, White Elephant, Jewellery & Accessories, Books, Cakes, Sweets, Plants, Previously Loved and Tombola will all be in place.

The various prizes for stall raffles this year include a wildlife painting by artist Syd Sellars, a silver linen kist, a box of selected wines as well as a beautiful hand-crafted doll's house. The draw for all he raffles will take place at approximately 2pm on fete day.

Come for breakfast and stay for lunch - enjoy either the famous St Luke's bacon and egg rolls or an old-time favourite, Vetkoek and mince. For any enquiries about the St Luke's Fete, contact the convenor, Heléne Griffiths, on (031) 572-6732 during office hours.
