Nation Builders Tackles Women Abuse

Nation Builders Tackles Women Abuse

Date: 2019-08-16

This Women's Day Nation Builders tackled a pandemic that affects thousands of women across our nation. Abuse of women has drastically escalated over the last few years so much so that police stations across the nation have been inundated with cases of domestic violence against women. With this in mind Nation Builders equipped the 70 women present at their Women's Day seminar, with practical steps on how to break free from abusive relationships.

Keynote speaker at the event, Annet Michelle Sewraj encouraged all women to break the cycles of abuse experienced and to use their skills, talents and abilities to re-invent themselves and improve their lifestyles. She emphasised that true freedom from abuse begins with a change of mindset. Her message was one of hope for a better future for every woman who is willing to rise up and take charge of their lives. The day was highligted by celebrating the opportunities women have and the support that is available to assist women to equip and empower themselves today.

Captain Vinny Pillay of the the Umhlali SAPS thanked Nation Builders for hosting the event and for the work they are doing to impact and empower abused woman. He added that the free counselling available at the trauma unit at Umhlali SAPS needed organisations like Nation Builders to come alongside and assist in empowering woman. Captain Pillay said that he looked forward to partnering with and working with the Non-Profit Organisation in future community projects.

The days programme also included breakfast, lunch, entertainment and a special care bag for the ladies present. The ladies left the event empowered and equipped to face their challenges with a new mindset and attitude. Many expressed the need for such events and the meaningful impact it had on their lives. Annet Michelle Sewraj, Founder and director thanks Captain Vinny Pillay and the Umhlali SAPS for partnering with Nation Builders for this event.
