A daughter, a mother, a wife, a sister, a medical doctor, a masters in Health Economics, an actuary in the making, a mentor, a role model Dr Anuschka Coovadia is the quintessential of Woman.

Hailing from Durban, born into a prominent political family, life for Anuschka was the adventure of a true South African girl - born into the struggle, imbued with a passion for social justice and health equality and tied to the fortunes and misfortunes of our land.

She is currently the Head of Healthcare at KPMG, a global Audit, Tax and Advisory firm and the Head of the Centre of Excellence for KPMG Africa's Health team. She has extensive experience in providing strategic direction to the boards and management of medical funds, pharmaceuticals, hospital groups, private equity investors, parastatals such as Transnet, Department of Healthand other government throughout Africa. She is also involved in assisting organisations in the health care sector with their business turn around strategies, operational efficiencies and organisational structuring and healthcare financing.

Anuschka is known for her innovation and her knowledge of international health models. She has contributed to FINWEEK, Women's Health and a number of other key publications and has been a key note speaker for the actuarial society and health insurance conferences amongst others. She has also previously worked for Novartis managing the Africa region, Momentum in the Health Actuarial team and GEMS, as the Head of Clinical Advisory Services.

She is passionate about working towards a more equitable, efficient healthcare system in South Africa and believes that healthcare is more about people than professionals. Her hope is that there will be a grand convergence between the healthcare outcomes between the rich and poor, within her lifetime.
