What is the issue

What is the issue

Here we go, by the time you read this you will have probably cast your vote in the local elections or just started your day with a beer for breakfast instead, opting to give in to those feelings of futility and despair.

But all is not lost, while the people we give our power to then go on and share that power with someone we would never want to control our power, in a political landscape of Tinder style politics where coalitions are struck more for the chance to control a city and its budget than an honest desire to deliver a decent life to the people who live there.

We can still hope and pray that the two major political parties accept the outcome of the elections for what they are found to be and then get on with the job of making South Africa Great Again. The job that is the whole point of the elections in the first place. If we could just get rid of the power struggle and the self absorbed behaviour of these political parties to stop thinking about themselves and start thinking that it is the people that matter and the lives of those people and their children that is the central theme to this whole show of I, I, Me, Me, My.

As soon as these parties realise that they are already in a coalition, as there is only one country here, then they can get along with the task of creating jobs and securing a thriving economy for all to share.

Looking at our politics and comparing them to other countries around the world, I have to say that we are not so bad off. I mean Jacob is better than Donald, even though he is not nearly as wealthy, yet, and the Turkish population must be wide eyed with awe as they watch their president make an astounding grab for totalitarian power.

Then there is our French friend Francois and the wildfire of indignation that is spreading across his country over the barbaric throat slitting murder of an elderly priest. I mean, besides the sanctity of Holy places and the unwritten law prohibiting the use of religious institutions as military targets, this is almost definitely an act aimed at shock and horror, one that seems to have inspired a backlash, not quite the official response, but surely a different one lingers out there amongst the people.

Then there is the incredible decision by the American armed forces to upgrade their nuclear arsenal. Wow! Genious!

Then there is the political landscape of Libya. Now if you look at that, then you would not stay home and drink beer, you would go out and VOTE. For whomever!

The mess that France and America and NATO left in that country is only exacerbated by the corrupt leadership running the country and their association with IS. The people want the return of the "Greens", the old guard who ruled under Gadhafi and held Libya in a stable and beneficial system. But if they do return then the question of where all the mega wealth of Libya went, will have to be re-opened and that is a can of worms like no other.
