Webber Wins In Monaco

Webber Wins In Monaco

Date: 2012-05-30
Red Bull Racing became the first team to win two races in the 2012 Formula 1 season. Australian born Marc Webber clinched the checkered flag in a race that was filled with drama and excitement.

In this the sixth race of the season, Mark Webber is the sixth driver to win a race in this championship. His teammate Sebastian Vettel added to the Red Bull scores for the day by making up five places from his ninth on the grid, finishing just off the podium at fourth.

Nico Rosberg did not seem happy to take second place on the podium for Mercedes, while Fernando Alonzo drove a brilliant race to finish third and place himself at the top of the driver's contention. Alonzo's 76 points just pips both Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel who lie tied at second place with 73 points.

In the constructors standings Red Bull pull away with 146 points for the season so far, McLaren-Mercedes follow in second with 108, a very auspicious number. Ferrari and Lotus-Renault each have 86 points and Mercedes are in fifth place with 61.

The next Formula One track meeting will be in Canada in the city of Montreal, on the 10th of June. It is still anybody's race, making this one of the most exciting seasons for a long time.
