Siza Water Recycling Project Success

Siza Water Recycling Project Success

Date: 2015-07-10
Sembcorp Siza Water announced that an overwhelming 96% of households represented in the Recycled Water voted inn favour of introducing the recycled water for distribution into the water network. Shyam Misra, MD of Sembcorp Siza Water, thanked all consumers that participated in the survey and added that the Directors and Management of the company wished to thank consumers in voting positively as well as trusting the company to deliver an alternative water supply. He stressed that every precaution is being taken to ensure the water will be safe for the end user.

Mr Misra advised that the water has been consumed by himself, many members of his staff as well as students that have visited the plant. Tests on water quality are conducted regularly by the Sembcorp Quality & Process team and independent tests are also conducted by an external laboratory.

Sembcorp's reason for extending the date for the survey was owing to Managing agents requesting an extension to communicate the matter within those Body Corporates they represented.

There has been an increase in the demand for recycled water at the Waste Water Treatment Works which may result in the company limiting the supply to those collecting the water. When the recycling plant is fully operational, to be able to supply a much larger volume, it may occur that no third parties may be able to collect water from the plant and all or most deliveries will be done via Sembcorp or our nominated agent.

SSW is currently upgrading the recycling plant to accommodate the introduction of the recycled water into the potable water system.
