Dut Students and I Care Changing Streets Children to Champions

Dut Students and I Care Changing Streets Children to Champions

Date: 2012-08-01
On the 10 August 2012, I care together with DUT Students (PRICO) will be having a fun day where they will attempt to change the lives of vulnerable streets children - this event will be held at the I Care premises. The day will include fun activities like spoon and egg race and other indigenous games.

The aim behind this initiative is to show love to the kids and to instill hope in their lives. The DUT Students want the children to know that there are people who had nothing, with no trace of positive thing to hold on to, but they have made it in life.

I care is a Non-profit Organisation which was launched in June 2002. The I care is dedicated to finding sustainable solutions to the challenges facing streets kids in South Africa. The organization also runs a programme which is called "Street Team outreach"; here the I CARE team work on the streets seven days a week working with the children on the streets. The programme consist of a 6-week rehabilitative programme followed by the camp where by the children are prepared for the reunification process with their family and communities. Once the children are placed back with their families the I CARE team conduct home visit as a means to assess how the child and family members are adapting.

Individuals and companies alike can choose what they want to sponsor, be it on once off or regular basis. We have learnt that a once of donation is of a great essence, for its takes the beneficiary to another level, while regular sponsorship helps the beneficiary into the future with less worry being assured of the support. We believe that there is no donation that is small, for indeed "a broken spoon can mean much to some needy people".
