Appointment of new Umhlali Preparatory School Principal

Appointment of new Umhlali Preparatory School Principal

Date: 2019-07-19
It is with great excitement that the Umhlali Preparatory School's (UPS) School Governing Body (SGB) announces the appointment of Miss Sandy Wiggill as the Principal of UPS.

The appointment was confirmed by the Department of Education following a rigorous process involving an independent Selection Committee, comprising of external experts, members of the SGB, representatives from the KZN Department of Education, as well as Trade Union representatives.

Miss Wiggill will assume her duties immediately, with her appointment being effective from the start of this term (Tuesday 9 July 2019).

Miss Wiggill brings with her 32 years of experience across the broad scope of the education profession, including teaching, and school and representative sport management.

Miss Wiggill joined UPS in 2003 as a Senior Primary (SP) Educator, and later held the position of SP Departmental Head, in addition to coaching and managing a variety of school sports, amongst others. Her most recent position was that of UPS Deputy Principal.

The SGB would like to extend its appreciation to Mrs Gill du Plessis for filling the Acting Principal role since January 2019, and taking care of UPS whilst the selection process was under way.

We would like to wish Miss Wiggill all of the best in her leadership of UPS in its next exciting chapter, and would like to assure her of the full support of the whole, extended UPS family.
