What's the Issue

What's the Issue

Amidst the whisperings of Rhamaposa and the mystique of the Big Six, we surely trembled, collectively, as a nation, at the thought and predictions of the outcomes of Mangaung. Amidst rumours of high treason and right wing plots to bomb the leaders of the ANC, late registrations and delayed voting procedures, hooligans demanding their candidate be the only one considered and huge speculation from the media machine, the victor will emerge.

But if we think we have problems, then we need just look abroad to see how well off we actually are. The devil you know is supposed to be better than the devil you don't, or at least easier to deal with, I think. Anyhow, Russia has a mountain that is blowing its top and spewing hot molten rock all over the place. But that is nothing compared to the dilemma facing Jacob Zuma's compatriot in the USA. Obama is dealing with another kind of problem all together. I must quickly get in, before I start harping off about the death of those beautiful young, innocent children, and interject on my own tirade, to point out the difference in the political, social and humanitarian response from the world, to the death of several young girls, who were waiting for the buss and were blown up by a suicide bomber.

There is no way that Obama or any president for that matter will stop the psychosis of public executions in America, just by curbing gun laws. In China the guy ranted into a pre-school with a knife and vented his psychotic spew on the little children. Curbing gun laws is like putting lotion on crab rash. You have to kill the crabs, you cant just sooth the rash. Obama would be better off arming every single child who leaves their home, training them in ballistic self-defence and that would stop these mentally deranged, psychotic catastrophes, from getting past the first child.

On a more serious note, I hope Obama does not take my advice; I have enough trouble regulating my teenagers as it is. To lose one of them in such an irrational way must be a living hell. I know that no parent could ever deserve such a punishment, such agony, such torture. Such huge loss in such a void of reason. Why? Why the kids? WTF?

Why bomb innocent girls on their way to school, why drive your car bomb into a group of people you have no idea of who they are, and when it turn out that they are not involved in your conflict at all and are totally separate from the reason you detonated the bomb, I know it does not mean anything to the perpetrator, but it begs the question, why does it mean so much more to the innocent victims?

Take it one step further and compare our grief for the bright faced children whose lives were wasted with such thoughtlessness and measure them up against the little children who have died in the Syrian conflict, does their mother feel less pain than the mother in Connecticut? May the Spirit of Christmas enter the heart of every being this Christmas, and heal all our wounds and woes. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year! More Chi!
