First Group Honours the 'Best of the Best'
The highest levels of service excellence, outstanding accommodation and splendid dining were among the merits honoured by First Group, across 60 of its properties. The winners were announced at an awards dinner held on the 27th of October at La Montagne Resort in Ballito on the KZN north coast.
Accolades were awarded in categories such as Property of the Year, Best Food & Beverage Outlet of the Year, Manager and General Manager of the Year, Ambassador of the Year, Most Consistent Performance, Special Recognition and Beyond the Call of Duty.
"Each year we recognise and honour individuals who have stood out in their representation of the Group by providing the kind of service that puts us one notch higher than other industry players. We believe that these awards encourage our staff to constantly strive to achieve the best in their work environment, and in doing so play an important role in the Group's ability to keep innovating its offerings and maintain its strong footprint on the path of achievement and excellence," said Shaun Lamont, First Group Managing Director.
He added that as a hospitality industry leader, the excellence acknowledged by these awards gives a lot of weight to First Group's promotion of tourism in South Africa and its contribution to the We Do Tourism initiative.
Four winners were announced in the Special Recognition category. Bruce Mxabo at Knysna Chalets, Zelda Oosthuizen at Gethlane Lodge, Simon Bailey at La Montagne and Schalk Enslin at Midlands Saddle & Trout were each recognised for their personal efforts to deliver above expectations in ensuring a memorable stay for their guests.
Beyond the Call of Duty awards went to Morne Hanekom and Wynand Bester at First Group's Customer Service Centre.
