Gigi's at iZulu launches a winning menu

Date: 2013-07-25
Gigi's Brasserie, at Hotel iZulu in Ballito, has launched their new menu last Friday night. Owners Owen and Jackie Williams together with executive chef Tyrone Sumner introduced invited guests to the new style of dining at their Brasserie.

Gigi's is renowned for a relaxed, inviting atmosphere whether you are a guest staying at the luxury boutique accommodation, or just visiting for a bite to eat, you are treated as an honoured visitor and a welcome guest.

Chef Sumner spent a long time creating a menu he believes will be enjoyed by Gigi's patrons, "I want my guests to experience the tastes and flavours from the regions that I travelled to and take them on a gastronomic journey." Chef Sumner's ideas originate from extensive research and intense sourcing of supplies but mostly he draws on his experience to create the exotic new dishes.

The new menu is perfectly balanced and filled with delectable local produce. You can start with Chef Sumner's Prawn Bisque, Seafood risotto, Grilled Tiger Prawns or tasty Chicken Livers served with brandy puree, hummus, peppers, olives, tomato & basil.

For mains you can indulge in Greek style marinated rack of lamb, Greek salad, falafel, harissa, tzatsiki and flatbread, Seared Beef Fillet, fat-cut chips, green beans, creamed spinach, Roma tomatoes and béarnaise or a Smoked Salmon with beetroot relish, horseradish crme fraiche, new potato & spring onion salad.

When asked about the inspiration behind the new menu Chef Sumner said, "Travelling and eating my way through Italy, France, Spain, Morocco and around the Mediterranean, I enjoyed the freshness and simplicity of their cuisines and decided from there onwards that it was the style I wanted to pursue."
