We want to be travellers not tourists

We want to be travellers not tourists

#Vanlife - a quest for meaning and true experience

We have always been adventurous, going that tiny bit off the margin and celebrating new discoveries, like the Voortrekkers before us we pioneer the places less traveled. We agree that this kind of journey is not suitable for everyone we also know that once the bug has firmly bitten, there really is no going back to convention.

We recently celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary; in our eyes it is a truly massive achievement, as so many couples struggle to keep their union together. We were determined to do something different and exciting, something that will solidify our friendship and set us up for the next 25 years.

We have been following #Van life for many years and the transient, carefree lifestyle appeals to us in many ways, the nine to five has always been a struggle and maybe that is why we enjoy those carefree evenings wrapped in a soft cozy blanket in front of the fire.

Maui Camper Vans was our choice of travel for our Silver Jubilee, a house on wheels that would take us to far away places, introduce us to compact living, taking us out of the comfort zone of buffet breakfasts and housekeeping. We knew what we wanted, we knew it was a risk worth taking and we reaped the benefits of simple bliss and companionship.

#Van life experience is not for everyone we were told; we were also reminded many times about the security and the current unrest in our country but we were not scared, we decided to trust our universe and we ventured North.

In the next few weeks we will share our experiences with you, where we went and what awaited us in our scenic destinations. We will share our inner most encounters and hopefully encourage you to take to the road, be a tourist in your backyard and brave the path to certain kind of personal freedom.

You should try it, it truly is a marvelous way to travel, I mean imagine a house on wheels with a fully equipped kitchen, bedroom and a bathroom on board. I mean no more what could be more fabulous than driving through our spectacular landscapes not having to stop for pee breaks.
