At Mercedes-Benz G Is For Go-Anywhere
From the GLC to the GLE and the ultimate G-Class, the soft sands of Namibia's vast desert were the perfect place to put these vehicles through their paces. As expected they all performed outstandingly with one vehicle that really showed its superior class and ability. The Gelandawagen seemed to flit over the soft sand without any effort.
In the clambering enthusiasm of my fellow journalists I never did get to drive the new Mercedes-AMG G 63, with its new improved performance that produces an amazing 420 kW. So I was to be content watching the new G-Class Mercedes-Benz swish soft Namibian sand around like it was an everyday occurrence. It was a spectacle, almost a magic show.
The GLE also had me gasping with delight. Imagine the Mercedes-AMG GLE63 with a 5.5-litre V8 Bi-Turbo engine pushing 410 kilowatts and if that is not enough Mercedes-Benz offer the very sporty S-Model that produces 430 kilowatts.
More power, better fuel consumption and all this wonderment, the open spaces of the Namibian desert, it was almost too much for me. I was in awe.
