Electric Eye Tattoo Celebrates Twenty Years of Body Adornment

Electric Eye Tattoo Celebrates Twenty Years of Body Adornment

Tattooing has become a legitimate art form. And, like art, something magical happens when design and function meet. Mully, the owner of Electric Eye Tattoo is a local legend, not only has he tattooed most of the local tattoo community he has worked on some famous human canvasses, DJ Fresh is just one he is willing to expose.

"I am not just a tattoo artist," Mully told The Bugle, "I am here to fulfill people's dreams. A lot of the times the problem with tattooing is there's great potential for ego abuse. It's great to find a tattooer that is talented enough and sensitive enough to make the piece the way you want it. My team here in Umhlanga and at Gateway are there to assist you with any design you dream of."

As tattoos are slowly becoming more accepted as a modern art form, the techniques and styles are ever branching out. Mully's Electric Eye Tattoo can give you anything from a butterfly to full back, pecks and sleeves.

There are dragons and Asian tattoos, that are rich in heritage and culture, tattoos have a certain look and history about them, which can place them into distinct categories.

Mully encourages everyone to treat their body like they would any other form of fine art and be sure they explore all different art styles and interpretations, before they make a permanent mark.

While tribal and old school tattoos are some of the more popular forms, black and grey portrait tattoos are a timeless choice if you like fine details.

"Times have changed," Mully continues, "We have become tolerant about tattoos and people who have them. Tattoos are not only about art and expression, we often tattoo body modifications, decorating operation scars and retouching botched up tattoos for our clients."

"Its no longer the amount of ink in your skin, today it's about an interpretation of ourselves. Because in reality a tattoo is the only thing we can take to our grave. On the other hand, I hope everyone has a sense of humour about it, because so many people get tattoos now. But it's a little weird now that it's so accepted."

Whether its American, Traditional, Neo-traditional, New school, Illustrative, Blackwork, Tribal, Celtic, Black and Gray, Realism, Urban, Japanese, Lettering, or Portraits, with so many styles, there is just so little time and only so much skin.
