MANDELA CELEBRATIONS GO LARGE

MANDELA CELEBRATIONS GO LARGE

Date: 2013-12-20
Parliaments' heavyweights did rounds in KwaDukuza as the nation mourned the departure of former president, Nelson Mandela.

People in Madundube, ward 27 had a surprise visit from National Parliamentarian Hon. Nokulunga Gina who is in the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training and Whip of the ruling party in the National Assembly.

Mandela's memorial service in Madundube was held at Prospect Farm School on Wednesday. The community was paying last respects to the struggle icon. Former President Mandela was put to his final resting place on Sunday at his home in Qunu.

This comes as the country entered the tenth day of the mourning period for the father of the nation.

Last week, Bheki Cele, the Former National Commissioner of Police visited Sofaya as part of the mourning series.

Ward 27 Councillor, Sthembiso Magubane told people to keep the flag waving through the inspirational story of Madiba.

"Mandela's journey to freedom cannot be told without mentioning Mandela's struggle for liberating people'' he said.
