Durban Architect becoming President of SAIA
Bingham was formerly the President of the KZN Region of SAIA (2012-2014) and has served on the National Board since 2012, and on its management committee since 2015.
In his acceptance speech Bingham stated, "My wish is to establish a SAIA that drives our profession forward into its rightful place in society; one recognized as leading the way in built environment matters, with its members being acknowledged for their skills and expertise, and through broader public education, recognition of the value of the work of an Architect."
Bingham is a director of FGG Architects Inc, with offices in Durban, Pietermaritzburg and Johannesburg. He holds a Diploma, Bachelors and Research Masters degrees in Architecture, and has completed a specialist course in medical design for airborne diseases, at Harvard University.
He has taught in Architecture and Interior Design both locally, and abroad in Brisbane, Australia, and in Liverpool, UK. Bingham serves on university advisory committees, is the chairman of the DPHS Educational Trust, and is an honorary senior lecturer at UKZN.
Beyond Architecture and Education, Bingham is the former Chairman of South African Sailing KZN and has been awarded Protea Colours in the sport. He was recently appointed to National Race Officer status. He is a former Vice and Rear Commodore of Point Yacht Club. He is also an avid jogger, having run 6 Comrades Marathons, and enjoys an occasional visit to the gym.
Bingham is a Northlands Old Boy and is married to Lynne, with two adult sons.
