Face-to-Face with holidaymakers

Face-to-Face with holidaymakers

Date: 2019-12-13

In her capacity as the MEC for Tourism, Nomusa Dube-Ncube will attend the 8th Gagasi FM Beach Festival taking place at Blue Lagoon Beach Lawn in Durban.

She remarked: "In our executive roaster of entertainment this festive season we have this beach festival. The excellent activations ahead of this festival is a clear indication the station's marketing team understands that taste of their loyal listeners and what holidaymakers want."

She added: "It is not surprising that since P4 Radio metamorphosed into Gagasi FM, listenership figures have increased dramatically. Over the years the station has matured from being a Greenfield radio station to becoming a regional radio station with a music format and programming that attracts thousands of listeners."

The licensing of P4 Radio, now Gagasi FM ushered in a new era in the broadcasting industry in this province. The initial P4 Radio's Smooth Jazz Format was well received by listeners with aspiring jazz musicians being provided a platform to express their artistic talents through music gigs that the station organised throughout Durban and surrounding areas.

The Newscasts from the station, which were decorated with voices of young journalists from local tertiary institutions, was a breath of fresh air. For the first time, the people of KwaZulu-Natal were provided with an independent voice wherein they could articulate their aspirations.

Dube-Ncube pointed out: "We attribute this success to the sterling work of the Chairman, Mr Peter-Paul Ngwenya, Gagasi FM management and on-air talent. Moving forward, we undertake to work with the station to increase the tourism potential of this province. We want all municipalities across the province to have their tourism activities marketed through Gagasi FM.

She concluded: "The festive season has a deeper meaning for the province of KwaZulu-Natal as it becomes a time when we best showcase our hospitality as a people. True to its form as the preferred destination for many tourists around the world, KwaZulu-Natal is the undisputed champion of summer holidays in the country. The offerings and the tourists' packages are second to none."

"We understand that when people visit our province they expect nothing but an ultimately safe environment in which they and their families feel secured. We wish holiday makers a great time during this beach festival and throughout the festive season."
