Ablaze Chefs School Graduation

Ablaze Chefs School Graduation

Date: 2018-03-23

The Missions Ablaze Charity, based in Tongaat, has fed over 500 people every day of the week in and around the greater Durban area for the past 20 years.

It is self funded and relies on food donations from hotels, restaurants and the kindness of others more fortunate. The charity also grows its own vegetables and takes care of 20 permanent residents on its property - Eagles Rise in Hospital Hill Road, Tongaat.

The Ablaze Chefs' School was established in 2017 as an extension of the work already being done by Missions Ablaze.

The school, under the expert guidance of Executive Chef Andrew Pillay (ex-Tsogo Sun and DUT), the South African Chefs' Association, Masterchef Culinary Academy and mentorship of Fairmont Zimbali Resort, has been established to assist young men and women from previously disadvantaged communities become proficient in the art of cookery.

Certificates were handed out to the Graduates by Elsu Gericke (SACA) Head: Professional Body and Skills Development and Fatima Stanley Director: The Masterchef Culinary Academy.

There are still a few places open for the Class of 2018 and interested students should contact Hein Van Der Merwe on Tel: 032 - 945 0185; Cell: 083 554 3610 and Corporates are being urged to sponsor students who cant afford even the most nominal tuition fees.
