F1 Report

F1 Report

Date: 2013-10-11
Red Bull showed the Korean crowd flames in more ways than one this weekend as Sebastian Vettel drove an incident filled race with masterful aplomb, while his partner Mark Webber's Red Bull RB9 burst into flames after Adrian Sutil spun his Force India in turn 3 and collided with Webber.

This was just one of many incidents in the action packed Formula 1 Grand Prix in Yeongam this past Sunday.

It was Vettels fourth win in a row but one he had to work a little harder for as he lead team Lotus to the chequered flag. Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean of Lotus fought valiantly in a race full of position changing, overtaking and masterful driving skill. The kind of Grand Prix that everybody loves to watch.

Again it was down to tyres and Vettel navigated two safety car restarts and a rapidly deteriorating right front tyre to win again in Korea. Sergio Perez's McLaren had its right front tyre tread delaminate, bringing out the safety car while they cleaned up the track.

All in all it was an extremely exciting race filled with incidents and accidents and one that now has the stewards reviewing all the poor discipline and overly aggressive driving that made this Grand prix such fun to watch.

The results on the scoreboard show Red Bull streaking ahead in the Constructor's Championship with a bulk pints tally of 402. Ferrari follow in second with 284, Mercedes lie third with 283, Lotus are in the running with 239 and McLaren in fifth place on 81.

In the driver's championship Vettel looks to take the title in the next event should he win again in japan, his lead of 77 points over Alonso has him on a total of 272, needs Alonso to place ninth or lower and it's a done deal. Kimi took over from Lewis this weekend raising his points to 168 to Hamilton's 161. Webber still clings to fifth on 130.

The next race day is in Suzuka, Japan, on the 13th of October.
