I have Nailed It.....

I have Nailed It.....

The last of our extraordinary females that we honour and pay tribute to this Women's Month, is 32 year old Zama Gumede a Mom & Nail Art Technician for Sorbet at the Junction Mall. It was the most hilarious meeting ever and a day I will not forget. That is why I wish to tell Zama's story as she has made such an impactful first impression.

I went for my appointment and was welcomed by this contagious big smile and bubbly personality. I sat down and Zama asked me about the spellbinding happenings that are taking place on an Indian soapy. I had no idea what she was talking about and then she says 'This is Love, Parichay, Salomi and 167, I can't believe it, you are the first Indian I have met that does not watch Channel 167.' And my reply was 'Zama, you are the first African lady that I met that does watch 167, and completely crazy about it.' And it was French nails and Channel 167 that got us chatting and before me sat a powerful, determined, committed Women /Mother that is a role model to many.

Zama Gumede a pragmatic Capricorn lives with her happy family in Umlazi. She has 4 brothers and a beautiful 6 year old daughter, Lwanda who is the apple of her eye. She trained at Camelot International College and successfully received her beauty Therapy Diploma. Later she went on to working at San Lameer where she was faced with many challenges as she just became a Mom and was still committed to completing her national and international exams. I am amazed when I watched Zama speak with such conviction that her life has not been a bed of roses but she is determined to orchestrate her future.

"I have nailed it, the true success to my future. I am always committed to learn and understand the industry, I am passionate about my work, I am driven by my goals and my key to success is discipline." shares this charismatic young individual. As all other fields the beauty industry is a very competitive one where it requires your personal touch to stand out from the rest. Zama definitely stands out from the rest. Her work is exceptional, neat with great attention to detail and her best quality is that one can feel that this is her passion not her job. She loves making sure her clients are satisfied. She is currently studying to become a Beauty Care Lecturer in order to give back to the community and empower individuals about basic beauty care.

Zama's motto in life is one that has come over time from past experiences, "I wake up and smile and I'm grateful that I have this day, today, a precious gift of life. I constantly remind myself of where I have come from in order to know where I am going and the present is my moment to allow my dreams and aspirations to become a reality.
