G4 Security tips

G4 Security tips

Date: 2013-12-06
The festive season, whilst the most enjoyable for us, is the period of highest risk for all customers. Premises are usually left unattended whilst owners are on holiday or enjoying a break away from home. It therefore is the time that everyone should be on their highest guard to ensure their risk of loss / damage to their property as well as to them directly is avoided.

The following are general tips for personal and home security that could be used by your readers to better manage their risk during this period:
  1. Always lock your door - although this seems obvious, you will be surprised by the number of homes left unlocked during this period.
  2. Lights are a cost effective deterrent.
  3. Ensure that your alarm is used at all times. Outdoor beams are a good choice to aid your security whilst you are inside your premises.
  4. Ensure that your contact details are updated with your alarm monitoring and response service provider.
  5. Advise your neighbours that you are away so that they too are able to keep an eye on your premises.
  6. Cancel your newspaper delivery and arrange for your post to be picked up. There is no bigger sign of a vacant home than an overflowing post box
  7. Pack your luggage out of site of others.
  8. Never leave items that can assist a suspect gain access into your premises outside.
  9. Try not to walk around alone or wear expensive jewellery. You will make yourself a soft target
  10. Learn all the emergency contact numbers so that they can be used in an emergency. Remember that cell phones will be one of the first item taken away from you.
  11. When in a vehicle, never leave valuables lying around. This includes handbags, laptops, etc. Keep them locked away in your boot
  12. Most of all, be attentive. Do not allow yourself to become a statistic

G4S Secure Solutions would like to take this opportunity to thank all their customers for their valued support and wish them a safe and enjoyable festive season.
