The 60 Minutes Drug & Alcohol Abuse Tour is back for the 5th year

The 60 Minutes Drug & Alcohol Abuse Tour is back for the 5th year

Date: 2016-03-11
The School Tour has run successfully for four years and this year it is taking its fifth year. We have no one to thank for this success but our sponsors Sappi Saiccor; Rawson Properties; EduSport & Travel; Campbell Design & Photography; DeltaV-Experts; Lightness Productions; Current Designz; Olivia Jones Communication; Enzo; Spur; 1KZN-TV; the BeachBar; Bell & Enchor; and Mozam Prawn Shack. We also convey our sincere gratitude to the Cedars patients for taking time out of their treatment schedule to come out and help in our initiative. The Cedars Recovery Centre has been, and continue to be our valued partners in the tour for it is them who understand better the life of an addict and the treatment thereof.

This year the tour goes to Umzinto Prison, Mcothoyi Secondary, Crawford College, Reservoir Hills Secondary, Esizibeni Secondary and Kingsway High School.

Our celebrity appearances will include Rock Mbambo, comedian and scriptwriter; Nolwazi Magwaza, East Coast Radio DJ; and Kgotso Dlamini and Londiwe Vilakazi, presenters of Twenty1 on 1KZN-TV. Their involvement is due to their understanding of the negative impacts that drug use has on our youngsters and their dedication to prevent the growth of drug use. Their appearance is particularly appreciated.

The tour will kick start with a final rehearsal which will be open to the public. This will take place on the 12 March at Umkomaas Primary School Hall at 18pm to 19pm, the cover charge will be R20 for adults and R10 for children. The main tour will then be on the 14th, 15th and 16th March at the schools named above.

The 60 Minutes Team is achieving its goal of educating pupils about the dangers of drug use. Our focus is to prevent starting use thus believe that PREVENTING IS BETTER THAN CURING.
