WE NEED YOUR WRITTEN POEM FOR OUR POETRY COMPETITION
When loved ones die, they go back to join their departed ancestors, where they will stay together and keep watch over and give guidance to those of us who remain behind, which is a great comfort.
In times of bereavement, we seek comfort and find it in the depth of our culture and rituals. But often deep sadness remains and sometimes people who have lost loved ones, cannot find the words to express their pain.
This is why AVBOB has created the Poetry Project and Competition in all 11 official languages. And it is why we now invite all Zulu individuals to create and enter new poems, to contribute to a collection of work on a special website that people can visit to find words of comfort.
If your poem is selected to appear on the website, you will receive R300. Next year the nine best Zulu poems will be selected and the very best one will receive a grand cash prize at a prestige event.
Lastly, if you want to enter, please do it as soon as possible, because the competition is closing on 30 November 2017.
