Land of Legends Ingwazi Awards

Land of Legends Ingwazi Awards

Date: 2014-08-15
Each year the Land of Legends Association recognizes a 'Legend' who has contributed significantly to the upliftment and promotion of KwaZulu-Natal. This award, known as the Ingwazi Award (meaning to nurture) has previously been bestowed upon great local personalities such as Dr. Zweli Mkhize, Dr Ian Player, David Rattray, Lawrance Anthony and John Smit. Last week this special award was handed to a very distinctive individual, Linda Pampallis, the CEO of Thompsons Africa.

Linda's service to the tourism industry and the values she upholds have since long ago identified her as one of KwaZulu-Natal's outstanding personalities. She is the first female to receive the Ingwazi Award.

The Master of Ceremonies was the very funny Wayne Coetzer, GM of the Oyster Box Hotel, Wayne joked about the hotel industry and provided a happy cheer to this event.

Keynote speaker, Rob Caskie transported the audience into the sombre and fascinating drama of the battlefields, enrapturing the audience to the events of KZN's dark history.

Speaking after receiving the award from Minister of Tourism Dr Zweli Mkhize, Pampallis said, "Receiving this award is humbling for me. KwaZulu-Natal is an extraordinary province and its people are our greatest commodity. After all these years I'm still excited about the tourism industry."
