By providing a fortified cereal to babies and children, Feed the Babies Fund ensures that children receive the necessary vitamins and minerals to development into healthy young adults. The difference that Feed the Babies Fund makes in the lives of children is captured in the words of a caregiver from Lindokuhle Nursery and Pre-School in KwaMashu.
"The cereal that Feed the Babies Fund gives us is very good for the children, especially the small babies. Those that came here very weak and sick; tired and crying all the time; once they eat the cereal they become strong and happy. They start to crawl, play with their toys and talk," said Mrs Nkomo.
"We are inundated with positive inspiring stories from the ground, of people who appreciate the significant difference we have made in the lives of babies and children," says Dean Groenink, the Director of Feed the Babies Fund. "It's caregivers like Ms Nkomo who bear testimony to the life changing service we provide to babies and children."
"It is becoming more and more difficult for Feed the Babies Fund to sustain its reach in the current donor environment. Fundraising is always a challenge and in particular it is difficult to access corporate funding. Other opportunities to raise funds constantly need to be looked at", said Groenink.
In order to raise much needed funds, Feed the Babies Fund will be hosting an exciting fundraiser at the Heritage Theatre in Hillcrest on 20 November 2012. Called "Going out with a Bang", the show features a wide range of music from artists like Maroon 5, Bryan Adams, Robbie Williams, Queen and Michael Buble. The show is fronted by Barry Thomson and some of the songs featured are Moves Like Jagger, This Love, Viva la Vida, Don't Stop Believing, Drift Away and Adele's Someone Like You.
Going out with a Bang is set to be a crowd pleaser, so please support the babies and children of KwaZulu-Natal, by supporting Feed the Babies Fund. Tickets are being sold at R200 and the price includes a two course meal. Call their offices on 031201 4682 to book your table.
