New Honda Civic Type R Has Arrived A race car for the road
The G Forces thrust me back into the red and black upholstered bucket seats of what is being touted as the world's most keenly anticipated hot hatch.
The Honda Civic Type R burst into life like a rocket, the first turn was on me in a flash and the quick short shifts of the gearstick had in third gear and accelerating through the turn with gusto. Wow, it was thrilling, the Type R is a machine.
Graham Eagle, director of operations at Honda Motor Southern Africa had this to say about the car, "The all-new Honda Civic Type R is the most extreme and highest performing Type R ever built, and sets new standards in the fiercely contested high-performance front-wheel drive hatchback segment."
Well that was supremely obvious by the time I had completed the first lap of the race track, my eyes bulging with delight and my heart pounding with excitement. Honda has equipped the new Civic Type R with the latest 2.0 litre forced-induction VTEC Turbo engine, producing 228 kilowatts of power and a whopping great 400 Newton meters of torque.
It blisters from standstill to the 100 kmph mark in a breath taking 5,7 seconds. What a car, contact Honda Umhlanga on 031 580 9700 for more about this wonder.
