Durban Entrepreneurs Club held their first meeting of the year at the Durban Country Club on February 15, with one of Durban's most well-known and successful entrepreneurs, Ashok Sewnarain, as their Guest Speaker.
Ashok, the CEO of IBV International Vaults, who also has interests in the property and hotel industry in South Africa and abroad, told the gathering of local entrepreneurs that life is about dreaming big.
"Dream to make a million dollars, rather than a million rand. The most successful people in the world dream big. It's free. It has no boundaries and borders." He explained.
He also suggested that they visualize their life as a set of ladders. One for spirituality and health, one for one's career and earnings and one for investments and savings - and the final one, being the personal living and lifestyle ladder.
"If you measure these four ladders, you will find that your Lifestyle ladder will be dictated by the first three ladders. If you fail, you will fall off your ladder."
Ashok said that he had had many failures in his business career, but all had made him more knowledgeable - and humble. "Humbleness takes you everywhere. Arrogance will take you nowhere."
Chairman and Founder of the DEC, Grant Gavin said that it was speakers of the calibre of Ashok that had enhanced the success of the club. Guest speaker at the March meeting will be World Memory Champion, and North Coast resident, Darren Denholm.
