The KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board Maritime Centre of Excellence (KZNSB) was established in 1964, strives to be a leader in environmentally sensitive protection of bathers against sharks and capacity building in the maritime sector. KZNSB safeguards 37 beaches on the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) coastline with shark safety gear owned and maintained by the KZNSB. The organisation positions itself as "The Only Organisation of Its Kind in the World. The organisation has achieved distinguished accomplishments in its existence, defining the organisations successes towards achieving its' mission.

KZN Sharks Board Maritime Centre of Excellence participated at Tourism Indaba 2023 as an Exhibitor to showcase its activities such Educational Shark Dissection Shows, Educational Boat, Museum, Curio Shop and Venue Hire services, and to meeting potential Business Trades such as Tour Operators, Buyers, and clients in general to open new business deals and relationships in the tourism industry sector. This year's Indaba recorded a high number of exhibitors as it was the second time returning after the Covid-19 epidemic.
