Landslide Victory, Kyoshi Sonny Pillay voted the new president of KSA
Having started Karate in 1968, Kyoshi Sonny Pillay said; "It has been a long journey of literally blood, sweat and tears. My victory at the election proves there is light at the end of the tunnel, however I have to say that without my family's support none of it would have been possible. My better half Anita and my 4 children have been pillars of strength, particularly during the dark days of apartheid, in the 60's, 70's and 80's. I accepted the position of President of KSA in memory of all the unsung heroes of the sporting rainbow nation. Namely, Golfing genius - Papwa Sewgolum, Martial Arts pioneer - Raku Soobiah Naidoo, Soccer Legend - Dharumo Mohun and one of Karate's greatest - Glen Popham. Sadly, none of them are here today to see me climb the podium to 1st place amongst the Karate fraternity of South Africa. My priority moving forward as the new leader of KSA will focus primarily on development and unity. This in my view is something that has been lacking. My first step is a roadshow with the Director of Public Relations, Mr Carlos Vilela to promote Karate and create awareness of it throughout KZN. Thereafter in conjunction with the other 8 provinces. My heart and telephone are open to anyone who holds interest in partnering with me in this exciting journey ".
