Through My Eyes

Through My Eyes

Author: Kasia Yoko
Date: 2022-02-23

2022 is well upon us. There is a lot of uncertainty about our country's prospects economically as well as politically. If you are feeling unsettled, do not worry, the whole world is feeling your anguish. Most of us are waiting to be hit with another bombshell. If it's not more restrictions, then it's the pending war in Europe. Locally our ugly political wrangling is showing us its deceitful side. Our dubious political and religious 'leadership' masquerading as our saviors. We no longer can trust anything that our politicians are saying - they do not stand for us or our human rights - they are here for the bucks.

The weather has been phenomenal. The sun hot and healing - for most of us this is a time to reflect on the future. The new dawn is dawning ... and somehow that does not sound right. My recent reflections bring me no resolution. There is something unsettling about the global chaos. I reached out to a friend to help me understand why I am feeling so unhinged. As someone with infinite knowledge I knew he would get me the right answer, he said;

"What we are all feeling is a sensation of being trapped and powerless to change our behaviour or our life due to circumstances beyond your control.

It is about the sense of desperation you feel as your life passes before your eyes and you struggle unsuccessfully to control and shape it. It is about the perpetual conflict between the path you want to follow and the path you are compelled to follow." Well, I'll be damned if that didn't hit the nail on the head! The point is that peeps tell you the world looks a certain way. Parents tell you how to think. Schools tell you how to think. TV. Religion. And then at a certain point, if you're lucky, you realise that you can make up your own mind. Nobody sets the rules but you. You can design your own life. You don't always need a plan. Sometimes you just need to breathe, trust, let go and see what happens.

Find out who you are and be that person. That's what your soul was put on this earth to be. Find that truth, live that truth, and everything else will come. I guess the moral of my story is the sun always comes out after the storm. Being optimistic and surrounding yourself with positive loving people is my truth. We have to choose to live life on the sunny side of the street.

In my humble opinion, we have to let go of who we think we should be and embrace what is. But that's just me rambling and sharing my thoughts. Contemplating life, the universe and everything. Here's to weathering the uncertainty.
