The Fair that cares

The Fair that cares

Date: 2015-10-02
This year's Christmas Country Fair will take place on Wednesday and Thursday 28 and 29 October at Collisheen Estate, inland from Ballito.

The Fair is the biggest annual fundraising event of the north coast charity organisation, the Christmas Fair Fund, and all money raised is channelled to deserving local individuals and institutions. Entry is R50 per person, which includes tea or coffee.

Since the first Christmas fair 63 years ago in the (then) Stanger town hall, the event has grown into one of the biggest Christmas markets in KZN. More than 85 stalls holders will once again offer outstanding products with the emphasis on organically produced, natural and hand crafted merchandise. The organisers of the Fair have carefully selected the participating stall holders in keeping with the "loving local" theme.

Many of the favourite stall holders from previous years will be back, but some exciting new vendors will participate for the first time. These include a new clothing line from Ekamu, jewellery, ceramics and - something for the boys - knife sets.

A dedicated foodie area where light lunches and snacks will be served will be situated in Collisheen's beautiful garden. Vegans, vegetarians, gluten intolerants and "banters" will of course be catered for. For the sweet tooth there will be offerings from "The Biscuitry" and "Lemon Canary", not to forget the delectable Christmas cakes and puddings for which the Christmas Fair Fund bakers are famous.

A workshop focusing on innovative Christmas decor and Christmas cooking will be an added bonus to a fun morning of Christmas shopping. The cost of the workshop is R300 per person and must be booked in advance.
