Newly elected Chairperson gunned down

Newly elected Chairperson gunned down

Date: 2017-06-09

On the 22/05/2017 time 6:25pm Monday, my brother Reynold Robert was gunned down by unknown, heartless men in Etete at our late mom, Beatrice Eckersley's home outside the gate. He lay there helpless in a pool of blood. "Too late."

This happened shortly after my brother dropped off the bodyguard that afternoon in his white bakkie (Shakaskraal). Before leaving he said to his wife Jane, "Please cook some phutu and fry some wors, I will be back." What we don't understand is, why must the owner be in the position to drop off the bodyguard What happens when he returns home unguarded This defeats the objective. Why did he drive to my mum's place instead of going home It is quite clear that his movements were monitored. He drove into the death trap not knowing what lay ahead of him"Death". It was planned so well. It happened so quickly. "Boom" They never gave him a chance, how unfair. This is not the first time taxi owners are being gunned down. Nobody deserves to die in this manner.

My brother accepted the position as chairperson from being secretary, as he trusted the people he worked with. He hoped to work as a team and not against each other. In every company or business there is a mission statement but I am afraid that the taxi industry lacks work ethics. At the workplace you are supposed to build a relationship with your colleagues, you become a family and not enemies. It would be interesting to know why the former chairperson stepped down. Was the seat too hot to handle and my brother too na*ve to see it

We have lost a very special person. He has left us with beautiful memories especially his good sense of humor. Never a dull moment in his company. We miss him dearly. We need closure. We have so many questions but there are no answers.

I believe in karma. Your day will come 100 times worse and I hope very soon. Somebody is responsible and is still out there walking the streets.

Who is next

There is a Zulu saying that goes like this: "Ayikho impunga yehlathi Indlela idlula la.

Loving Sister,
