Foodie - Yummy, Guilt free Choc Mousse
Foodie - Yummy, Guilt free Choc Mousse
Date: 2017-06-09
This week I have a simple, yummy, guilt free recipe, which was given to me by a friend. I was truly blown away at how tasty and light it was and how all my guests loved it. What is amazing about this recipe is that its vegan and even though I know nothing about veganism, I was really keen to give it a try.
Ingredients:
1 Ripe Avocado
1 can Coconut Cream
5 TBS Cacao Powder
5 TBS Raw Honey
Orange rind and/or dried crushed chillies (optional)
Directions:
Whip the Coconut Cream until light and fluffy, add mashed avocado cacao powder and honey. Also and the orange and or chilli. Chill for two hours in the fridge to allow to set.
As I found out Veganism is not a fad diet. It may have gained momentum recently as a backbone of certain environmental and health movements, but veganism existed in ancient India and Greece, and is part of many religious beliefs such as Buddhism and Seventh Day Adventists.
After a thorough research, I am pretty sold on the idea of turning some of my vegetarian diet into a vegan version.
As we all know nearly 20 per cent of man-made pollution comes from the meat industry, putting factory farming ahead of transportation in contributing to the greenhouse effect.
According toVeganOutreach.org, one person can spare about 50 animals per year by eliminating animals from his diet.
Vegans, just like vegetarians who eat well, don't need to buy additional supplements. The key to any diet is Vitamin B12 and Iron. Since B12 only occurs naturally in animal-sourced foods, vegans can instead eat fortified nutritional yeast and often sprinkle it over pasta, tofu ricotta, or fresh popcorn for a buttery taste.
I might not be 100% ready to go vegan, but I will start with one day a week and in time increase my weekly ration.
Food is such an important part of our overall existence - I'm not about to try to change it overnight.
So if you have any easy to follow vegan recipes, which you would like to share with my readers, then please send them to me. Oh and thank you Vanessa for sharing the chocolate mousse recipe with me. It certainly is my favourite recipe at the moment.
