Congratulations Ndu and Fabrica Local Barista Wins at National Finals
It has been a very busy year in South Africa's competitive specialitycoffeescene. Last weekend local barista Ndumiso Ngcobo, from Fabrica Coffee in Sunningdale, competed in theSouth African Coffee-Roasters-Association -Latte Art Finals, where he achieved third place in the country!
Ndumiso Ngcobo is a local coffee boffin, he enjoys nothing more than creating great coffees for the patrons of Fabrica Coffee in Sunningdale centre. Becoming a barista was something for Ndumiso had wanted to do for several years, and coming third was confirmation that hard work pays off. Because by creating platforms for baristas to showcase their talent and knowledge, Coffee-Roasters-Association also creates a platform for them to have their voice heard.
Speaking to The Bugle last week Ndumiso said, "I think these competitions are important, because they provide a platform for coffee professionals to present their skills to South Africa and even to the world."
Ndumiso added, "It is a great place to identify talent within our country. It also keeps us competitive and keeps us aware of what is happening in the coffee industry. It's a great place to learn from other coffee professionals and a place where you can be inspired by other baristas."
It all comes down to passion for Ndumiso, "You have to love what you do in order to do it properly." Ndumiso, who comes from Inanda and is 27 years old, would love to one day own his own coffee shop. He understands the value of supporting local talent and would like to mentor others to rise up through the love of coffee.
Ndumiso dreams one day of owning a coffee shop in Australia where the coffee culture is massive, "Coffee people are good people with big hearts." Concluded Ndumiso.
