The 2016 Durban International Jazz Extravaganza

South African jazz musician Nduduzo Makhathini has been announced as the local artist to perform at the inaugural Durban International Jazz Extravaganza taking place on the 12th of March at the Durban International Convention Centre. Makhathini will be performing alongside international jazz legends, Lee Ritenour and Spyro Gyra.

Nduduzo Makhathini who is originally from Pietermaritzburg KZN, has four successful albums under his belt. He has shared the stage with music giants such as Busi Mhlongo, Zim Ngqawana, Feya Faku, Jimmy Dludlu, Herbie Tsaoeli and many others.

I am honoured to be part of the highly anticipated Durban International Jazz Extravaganza. To share the stage with icons that have been in the industry for many decades is a dream come true for me. Over the years, I have learnt that if you submit yourself to the music or whatever your dream is, then mother-nature has a way of taking care of the rest, said Makhathini.

Tugging at the heartstrings of jazz lovers will be 10 year old guitarist, Luthando Jackson, also from Pietermaritzburg. Luthando will be the opening act at the extravaganza; he will finally fulfill his lifelong dream of Luthando Jackson is a ten year old self-taught guitarist who plays classical music and has made a name for himself by delivering amazing performances at the University of KwaZulu-Natal Pietermaritzburg campus, Midmar and Tatham Art Gallery. He has played with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra and has done a duet with world-renowned classical guitarist James
