Mercedes-Benz passes mark of one million cars sold

Mercedes-Benz passes mark of one million cars sold

Date: 2015-08-14
Worldwide Mercedes-Benz handed over 149,753 vehicles to customers in July (+15.2%). New sales records were set both in the month of July and in the first seven months of the year (1,048,178 units, +14.7%). This was due in particular to strong sales of the C-Class and the compact cars of the brand with the three-pointed star.

"We passed the one-million mark already in July. Never before have we delivered so many cars to customers in the first seven months of a year. About a quarter of them are C-Class Saloons and Estates," says Ola KŠllenius, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales.

"July saw Mercedes-Benz Cars experience another great month of sales with 2,363 passenger cars retailed. Our passenger car sales year-to-date in July (15,793 units) saw an increase of 9.8% in comparison to the same period last year, this while total passenger car sales year-to-date was down 4%," says Selvin Govender, Marketing Director, Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars.

"It is clear that the passenger car market is currently facing strong headwinds, whereas Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars shows increased sales growth as customers move towards the most trusted automotive brand. The continuous introduction of new and exciting models in new and niche segments contributes positively to the popularity of the brand, clearly indicating that our rejuvenation strategy is bearing fruit," concludes Govender.
