Shark Attack Victim visits Sharks Board
The attack resulted in him losing his foot. On Tuesday, he was part of the audience attending the educational programme run at KZN Sharks Board and after the presentation fully he endorsed the bather safety guidelines given during the presentation. He lives in the United Kingdom and is visiting his home town.
Bretton praised the first Director of the KZN Sharks Board, Beulah Davis for the care and interest she took in his recovery in 1975. He went back into the sea soon after the incident and is an avid supporter of the KZNSB and the research work being done on improving bather safety.
Beach users are urged not to swim at unprotected beaches, alone, out of your depth,at night or when the water is dirty or murky in colour. Do obey the lifeguards on duty and stay within the bathing beacons for your own safety.
