With restriction easing and the airlines opening up their local travel routes a visit to Cape Town is a must. Forget expensive overseas travels and the international pandemic restrictions, which are still in place globally, local is lekker and Cape Town is such an exciting destination, no matter how often you visit there will always be something new on the bucket list to tick off.
This time around it was a family affair for us, our sons are both in Cape Town, so we chose an Airbnb apartment right on the edge of Kioof Street convenient for both sons to visit from both corners of Cape Town.
We had the pleasure of hiring a car from Woodford Car Hire, a proudly Durban car Rental Company that is rated the number 1 car rental company in SA. Our brand new Toyota was heaven sent. Not only did it smell amazing throughout our time in Cape Town, it was also large enough to carry my big suitcases as well as our clubs. Booking the car was so easy and the team at Cape Town International Airport made the collection and return a total breeze.
Beside the heavy traffic, and the unpredictable weather Cape Town is a lot of fun. We managed to time all our outings in such a way that we missed the traffic buzz and the weather played along with our schedule.
In just six days we managed to fit in a lavish beach picnic in Muizenburg, a spectacular flower market in Adderley Street. A competitive game of golf at one of Cape Town's most spectacular golf courses, we played Milnerton Country Club. We clocked in the famous Camps Bay Sunset, plus a V &A Waterfront leisurely stroll and a visit to Vergelegen and the splendour of their spectacular gardens, to see why they were named the number one wine estate in South Africa. Cape Town is an easy two-hour flight from Durban. It is a cosmopolitan city with many breath-taking sights, diverse cultures and history. It offers something for everyone. It has some of the best restaurants on the African continent, it boasts the famous Table Mountain which is one of Cape Town's most famous landmarks and forms part of a national park of the same name. It has many popular hiking trails and a cableway that will take you to the summit, something for our next trip's bucket list.
Take a leisurely walk on the scenic seaside promenade, which meanders along the beachfront on the Atlantic Seaboard. It's a wonderful place to get in some exercise, people watch or simply enjoy the sea views.
Travel as we know it has certainly changed but local tourism is hip and happening and needs our support. Book your next holiday somewhere local, somewhere exotic and be a part of the rebuilding of local travel industry.
