Citroen C4 Cactus Wins The "2015 World Car Design"

Citroen C4 Cactus Wins The "2015 World Car Design"

Date: 2015-04-17

CitroenC4 Cactus won the "2015 World Car Design of the Year" award on Thursday 2 April, on the occasion of the New York International Motor Show. The jury of the "World Car of the Year" competition rewards the car that stood out in the course of the year, thanks to a design that challenges the established codes and embodies a bold and innovative style.

This international award recognizes the creativity and the courage of Citroen's designs. Alexandre Malval, Citroen's Style Director, had the honour of receiving the "2015 World Car Design of the Year" award. Citroen C4 Cactus is designed to reconcile practicality and a cool look. Citroen streamlined the Cactus's aerodynamics with spats around the wheel arches, a completely sealed underbody, a rear bumper diffuser, and dynamic wind deflectors behind the rear quarter windows. Other active aerodynamic elements include three variable intake slats in the front bumper and shutters on the wheels that move in accordance with rotational forces (the shutters close more the faster the wheels turn).

The Airflow does without conventional door mirrors, cutting drag and leaving drivers to rely solely on video feeds from each side. All of this aero work, combined with the Airflow's skinny BMW i3-style "tall and narrow" 19-inch wheels, improves the C4's aerodynamics by a claimed 20 percent. Citroen C4 Cactus does not look like any other car, precisely because it is a Citroen, and because Citroen's design is different and unique. This is why Citroen have been so successful for more than 90 years. And there are more surprises to come!"
