Whats The Issue

Whats The Issue

Wow, we have become obsessed with statues over the last few weeks, I'm wondering what sense of relief anybody gets from destroying them and what removing these reminders of our past will do to add benefits and direction to our future.

I had to giggle at the bronze statue of our President that was erected on top of Table Mountain, a naked Jacob Zuma with a sex toy in his hand inscribed as the swordsman of the nation. LOL. What a sword

Needless to say the statue was very quickly attacked and broken into two pieces and rightly so. We can't have a naked statue of our president confronting the tourists on top of Table Mountain. It will remind them of all his conquests as a leader of this great nation. And what with his great big sword in his hand he could scare some of the more sensitive visitors.

So while we distract ourselves with things like big swords and sentimental emotions towards statues, a two billion Rand budget for our President's new jets or who meddled with the NPA the most, the World is facing a major crisis. We will not even glans sideways at AGANG announcing that they will no longer communicate in English, no, there are more important crises that demand our attention.

Crisis? What Crisis? You might ask. Well the threat from ISIS or IS or ISIL, or whomever they may be, is spreading like wildfire. Reported to already be operating in Yemen, this threat from what must be the most radical terrorist organization the World has ever known, cannot be an unfounded gripe these people have. There must be more, so much more to what is happening. The hacking of thousands of Israeli websites and the posting of the Islamic State flag must have Ben scurrying around in a panic close to apoplexy. Russia has responded to the ISIS threat in Tajikistan with one point two billion dollars worth of weapons. That region seems to be putty in the hands of warmongers.

Things are finally simmering down to total chaos in the Ukraine, with the recent conflict giving Russia a chance to test their conflict readiness. Hopefully the cease-fire will be a success and the EU will awaken from their dream state to realise that an American military base so close to Russia will never happen without a worldwide disaster.

Rumours of a civil war in America abound, as do rumours of civil action in South Africa. Now now people, lets all keep calm and go about our lives with a little more decorum. Lets concentrate on the really important issues like whether Greece will turn to Russia for financial aid and leave the Eurozone, a real problem for the Euro and so then for everyone.

With so many humanitarian challenges and environmental challenges it seems as though we humans have lost the plot and are distracting ourselves from the very real issues while dealing with what looks like fabricated issues.
