uMhlanga Winter Festival
Trail blazers, on your marks! The winter version of the uMhlanga Liberty 12km / 18km Trail Run and Walk takes place on Sunday 7 July at 6.30am, as part of the 2013 uMhlanga Winter Festival.
The popular sport of trail running is fast taking the country by storm. The uMhlanga Liberty 12km/18km Trail Run and Walks have quickly become much-anticipated events during the year, with adventurous folk enjoying the mixed terrain by venturing through sugar cane, forests, suburbs, and a testing section along the beach.
What makes the trail run and walk a firm favourite is it is nowhere near mundane, with picturesque backdrops, river crossings and a variety of landscapes being explored. The settings of the runs are terrific, with the scenery urging runners to go further, beckoning runners around the next corner offering so much to see, weave through, clamber over, wade through or traverse and enjoying going the distance. Making the event a complete sensory experience, walkers can enjoy the bird calls as they approach the uMhlanga river.
The first 300 entrants to register to participate in the event will also receive a free pair of Jockey socks on arrival; and there is a free Spur Breakfast to all finishers, as well as lucky draw prizes at the end!
Off-road running has never been this fun, with the uMhlanga Liberty 12km / 18km Trail Run and Walk taking place in the early hours of Sunday morning.
