North Coast Art Group

North Coast Art Group

Date: 2012-07-04
The July meeting of the North Coast Art Group will be held at the Catholic Church next to Danville Girls School, 2 Newport Avenue, Virginia on Saturday 14th July 2012 from 9.15 a.m. - 12 noon. Natasha Barnes will be giving the demonstration. Our group is lucky to catch Natasha "at home" where she is based in Umhlali, as she travels extensively not only to International Art Fairs selling her work but to visit exotic places which inspire her abstract and dynamic interpretations of art, usually on large and impressive canvases.

She has had no formal art training as she originally trained as a Cordon Bleu chef at Silwoods in Cape Town. However, she always knew that art would find her creative side, and 14 years ago she gave up her culinary career and dived straight into the overseas art market by exhibiting at an Abu Dhabi Trade Fair, where a German publisher offered to print her work.

From there she has shot into the beam of the international art world. Her heart is still in Africa though; where she is so busy in her studio she also paints under two pseudonyms so she can vary her styles - Lillian Scott and Sage Valentine. This demonstration is bound to be filled to capacity and will be an awesome and inspiring experience.Enquiries: Jeannette 0829635352. Entrance Fees: R30 Visitors R20 Members - tea and snacks included.
