Humpback wale washed up - Blythedale beach

Humpback wale washed up - Blythedale beach

Date: 2017-12-08

A humpback whale calf of approximately 5.5 - 6 meters washed up on Blythedale beach yesterday.

According to a Sharks board spokesperson, the whale would have been migrating back to the Antarctic.

Whales migrate to colder waters to follow food sources.

If the calf was too weak to complete the journey it would have been left behind by the mother.

There were no marks found on the carcass.

Local authorities are currently on the beach and discussing the removal of the carcass.

"Not every outburst of collective anger and frustration is a revolution. Not every defiance and overthrow of an old regime and its legal edifice is proof of a successful revolutionary act. The sole guarantor of the success of a revolution is society itself. Herein lies the crux of the dilemma: the performer of the revolutionary act (the agent) needs a revolution so that the act and the agent can be brought into harmony, and so that the results are consistent with the beginnings." - Khalil El-Anani, "Egyptian Revolution Reconsidered"
