Date: 2013-02-28
FANS of the Engen Volkswagen Cup series were not disappointed by their national racing heroes at Kyalami this past Saturday. The opening round of the season delivered two races packed with action throughout the 26 car field.

One of the first racers to show that he is well rested, but hungry to achieve in the new year, is Jeffrey Kruger in 7 - IndyOil. Kruger claimed pole position in the lucky draw of the top six fastest qualifiers, then showed the field how it should be done, leading to the finish to claim victory.

In Class T the Ford Fiestas of Shaun Duminy and Gary Formato got off to very good starts but were reeled in by their rival Graeme Nathan. Gavin Cronje drove his Mini exceptionally well only to be pipped at the podium by Jacques Joubert in his VW Golf.

The next Class T production car race will take place in Killarney, Cape Town where Shaun Duminy and Gary Formato hope to have their new Ford Focus ST's ready for action.

The poibnts standing in the Class T action has Nathan at 27, Joubert and Cronje both holding 19.
