The scariest thing about the American election is that their President will impact on almost every other person in the world. So their choice becomes our choice and we don't even have a say.
Speaking about Presidents, my firm favourite to date is Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. Now there is a man who has the courage of his convictions.
Needless to say whom my least favourite president is right now, no prizes for guessing that one. I don't usually watch Carte Blanche, however there was a rerun of the enquiry into the coal deals and Eskom's handling of the purchasing of coal for our power stations and the inexplicable involvement of the Gupta family and how they managed to construct such convoluted deals that, in my limited understanding of the whole story, paved the way for Eskom to pay for them to buy a mine or two or three, almost like a gift. Here have a mine, we'll pay for it and then you can have it amazing. I probably got it wrong, but that is what it seemed to be saying to me.
Have you heard about the Gupta's twitter tirade, they have been accused of having a Twitter Army that is pushing their agenda and re-tweeting like a flock of angry seagulls. The bash our Finance Minister, probably because he won't sign that blank cheque. Anyway how much is enough The New Age newspaper and the ANN7 television channel, a few coal mines and a president. That is just for starters.
So by the time you have read this there will either be a revolution in America or we will all be holding our heads in our hands and praying for the good Lord to rescue us from the clutches of insanity.
Our president is apparently going to be facing his third no confidence vote in his short time as Number One. Some are of the opinion that it is a futile waste of time that won't amount to anything. I tend to agree and after the last week of our political turmoil I have to admit that I am really intrigued to find out exactly who The Top Six are. It sounds a little clandestine and I'm sure if I put my investigative journalistic skills to work I would be able to find the list on the internet in under a week. Anyway, whomever they may be, they are surely the pillars that are holding up the roof of the house of Zuma's office.
I fear for the ratings we are about to receive, may the Lord have mercy on us all.
